Photos of Ecuador

Sofia and I are in week 2 of our long stay in Ecuador and we are loving every minute. Juan will arrive this Saturday...we have really missed our guy! We are planning a trip to the rain forest the Sunday after he arrives so I´m excited to share some photos of that adventure but until then here are a few that I have taken the past few days...Enjoy.

These are just some photos I took of the city. Juan´s parents building is very close to where these photos were taken.

Sofia´s cousins- Gaby, Sofia, Nico, Esteban Andres and David

This photo is a little dark but I wanted to show you our wild Sofia walking...I mean running. I can´t keep up with her...maybe it´s the altitude :)

I love this photo. Sofia has her cousin Nico´s pajamas on and her Ita Ena put a scrunchy in her hair...too cute.

Day 5 in Ecuador

Sofia and I left for Ecuador on Monday for a month long stay. It has been so nice and Sofia is getting so much attention and I´m getting to sleep in :) We have been eating a tone and enjoying all of it. The food here is all natural...no preservatives so all we do is eat! Oh...and Sofia is walking a lot. After seeing her cousins run all over she decided that she didn´t want to be left out. I love seeing her with her family here...everyone just loves her and she is loving them. I will post some pictures soon so that you can see this beautiful country.

Here are some neat facts about Quito, Ecuador:
-Ecuador is split by the equator; the line passes just to the north of the capital city of Quito.
-The elevation of the city is 2,850 m (about 9,350 ft), making Quito the second-highest administrative capital city in the world.
-Ecuador has numerous volcanos; one of them, if mesaured from the center of the earth, would be even higher than Mt. Everest! (On a clear day, I can actually see some volcanoes from Juan´s parents home)
-Quito, known as “the eternal spring, is said to have the best weather in the world.

Our Girl is one!

On November 26 our Sofia turned one. WOW does time fly...it truly feels like we just left the hospital and now our little baby is one. It has been a great year and Sofia has been an excellent baby...we are truly blessed. We celebrated her birthday on November 21st with a party full of wonderful friends and her family from Ecuador watched the celebration via webcam. Her actual birthday was spent with family in Ohio. Needless to say, Sofia had a GREAT birthday filled with lots of people who love her.

Sofia's 1st boo-boo

We almost made it a year without any accidents. This week Sofia had a little collision with her best pal in the whole world , Tate Fowler. One of their favorite things to do is to chase each other behind the couch. They were having a fun time until I heard some screaming coming from Sofia. At first I didn't think much of it until I saw lots and lots of blood. Sofia and Tate had a head on collision or should I say a head to mouth collision. I was stunned about the amount of blood that comes from the mouth....I thought it would never stop but it did and just minutes later they were back playing just like nothing even happened. We have had a great year if this is the only trauma we have encountered...praise God!!

Finally.....

The Troya's finally joined our fellow friends and created a blog. I am actually really excited to capture all our special moments on it. One of those moments was back on September 21st when we baptized of our sweet Sofia. It was a perfect day....Juan's parents were here from Ecuador and my mom and sister came in from Ohio. After the baptism we gathered at our home and celebrated the occasion with some of our closest friends and family. It was definitely a perfect day. Our good friend Amy Free {bluebucketphotography.typepad.com} helped us capture the moment with these wonderful pics....enjoy!!
